Things to do in Budapest with a baby
​We went to Budapest with a 9 month old baby during the cold winter! Temperatures in Dec go below 0 and if you're lucky you might even see snow! Budapest however is an all year round destination with plenty of things to do.
Here are the top things:
1. Fisherman's Bastion
This site is called Halaszbastya in Hungarian and it looks like a fairytale castle! It's on the Buda side and requires a bit of a walk up the hill to get to. Another way to go up is to take the stairs on the side of the hill (there's a lot of them!) or to just get a taxi that will drop you off at the top. It can get very busy with tourists but it's definitely worth it for the amazing view of the river!
2. Buda Castle
Another majestic building that's beautiful to see both up close but also from across the river at nighttime. You can walk around it or go inside to the museum or galleries that it houses. Despite it being on a hill it's very easily accessible on foot or on public transport.
3. Hungarian Parliament
The Hungarian Parliament is definitely the most iconic landmark in Budapest. It was built based on the Houses of Parliament in London. You can see it from up close or even better from the opposite side of the river! Especially at night it is so impressive!
4. Varhegy

Great walk to do with babies and small children. This is the castle quarter and consequently filled with beautiful buildings along cobbled streets. You can see the Danube river and immerse yourself in the medieval atmosphere.
5. Cruise
A cruise is definitely recommended! Most cruises leave right across the Parliament building and they go down the Danube river. You get to see the Parliament, the Castle and the beautiful bridges either during the day or by night. Just a heads up if you do the night cruise then the lights of the boat indoors are off completely..
