Best Travel Strollers for Babies & Toddlers:
4 Great Options That are Cabin Approved

Travelling with a baby or toddler is so much easier when you have a stroller that actually works for travel.

The “best” travel stroller isn't necessarily the smallest one. Depending on your trip, you might want something that fits in the overhead compartment, something lightweight enough to carry through an airport, a stroller that can accommodate two children, or even one that doubles as your cabin luggage.

After travelling extensively with our children, these are four travel strollers worth considering and each one is suited to a slightly different type of family.

Always check your airline's current stroller and cabin baggage rules before travelling, as allowances vary between airlines.

1. The luggage stroller

If you're looking at travel strollers and thinking “I don't want to take a stroller AND a cabin bag”, then this stroller is a very clever option.

The TernX is a stroller that transforms into a carry-on luggage, giving you 18 litres of enclosed storage behind the seat. It folds to approximately 55 × 35.5 × 23cm and is designed around standard cabin dimensions used by most airlines. The stroller is suitable from 6 months up to 22kg (around 4 years).

What I particularly like about this concept is that it's not just a compact stroller but it also has a useful luggage compartment.

It can be particularly useful for airport days when you have nappies, snacks, spare clothes and other essentials that you need close at hand.

It's around 7.8kg,

Best for: Families who want their stroller and cabin luggage combined.

2. gb Pockit Air All-Terrain — One of the lightest travel strollers

If your priority is weight, the gb Pockit is hard to ignore.

At just 4.6kg, it's one of the lightest options. It folds down into an ultra-compact package designed for hand-luggage travel, making it particularly appealing when you're trying to keep your luggage to a minimum.

It also has breathable mesh fabric, which is useful when travelling somewhere hot, and double wheels designed to make it easier to manoeuvre over different surfaces.

This is the stroller I'd look at if you want something you can easily pick up, carry through the airport and store without taking up much space.

Just remember that ultra-lightweight usually means making some compromises compared with a larger everyday stroller — particularly when it comes to under basket storage and overall cushioning.

Best for: Families who want the lightest, most compact option possible.

3. YOYO³ — A great compact travel stroller, especially for two children

The YOYO has become one of the best-known travel strollers for a reason: it's genuinely compact without feeling like a flimsy umbrella stroller.

The YOYO³ is designed to fold small enough for cabin travel, and the current model weighs around 6.2kg. It can be used from birth with the appropriate newborn setup, or from 6 months with the 6+ configuration.

But one of the biggest reasons we have been using YOYO is because it can turn it into a double stroller and we have 2 kids.

The YOYO³ can be paired with the YOYO connect, which attaches to the back of the stroller to create a double configuration for siblings who both need a stroller..

That makes it particularly interesting if you have two young children but don't want to travel with a huge double buggy.

And if you're only travelling with one child, you can simply use it as a compact single stroller.

Best for: Parents who want a compact stroller that can also work for two children.

4. Mompush — Best for features and comfort

If you're looking for something that still feels like a proper stroller rather than an ultra-minimal travel buggy, the Mompush Lithe V2 is worth considering.

It weighs around 7.9kg and has a one-hand fold, a near-flat recline, adjustable footrest, UPF 50+ canopy, rain cover and a removable snack tray and cup holder.

The snack tray is one of those features that can be surprisingly useful on holiday. Having somewhere to put snacks and a drink can make airport waits, sightseeing and restaurant stops a little easier.

It also has a much more substantial recline than some tiny travel buggies, and it can be used from birth in its newborn configuration.

The compromise is that it's not as small or light as the Pockit, and Mompush itself notes that whether it fits in an aircraft overhead compartment depends on the airline.

Best for: Parents who want a lightweight stroller but don't want to sacrifice features.
