A Family Weekend at Delta Hotels by Marriott Worsley Park Country Club

We just spent a lovely weekend in Manchester and the hotel where we stayed made all the difference!

If you're looking for a hotel near Manchester that feels more like a countryside escape than a city break, Delta Hotels by Marriott Worsley Park Country Club is the perfect choice. The hotel sits within 200 acres of beautiful grounds, surrounded by greenery and open space, yet Manchester city centre is only a short drive away.

It gives you the best of both worlds - the convenience of being close to Manchester, but with the feeling of being somewhere much further away.

A peaceful countryside setting near Manchester

Worsley Park is surrounded by 200 acres of scenery, with the hotel and golf course sitting within all that open space.

It is very close to some of the best family attractions, including the Trafford Centre and LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, while RHS Garden Bridgewater is just a short drive away.

We stayed in a family room, which gave us a comfortable base for the weekend.

The hotel has a range of family-friendly rooms and suites, with some rooms overlooking the grounds or golf course.

For us, having somewhere comfortable to come back to after a busy day made the weekend feel much more relaxed.

So much space to explore

You can walk around the grounds, take in the views and enjoy being outside.

The kids loved going outside every morning and running around!

Breakfast was a highlight

Breakfast is always something I look forward to when we're staying in a hotel as a family, and we really enjoyed breakfast here. Having a buffet with a lot of options makes it easier for our kids to find something they like!

There's a full English breakfast as well as a continental spread, so plenty of choice.

It was a lovely way to start our mornings before heading out for the day.

A lovely dinner at Cast Iron Grill

We also had dinner during our stay and both the food and the staff were fantastic.

The hotel's Cast Iron Grill is an AA Rosette-awarded restaurant serving classic and globally inspired dishes.

What stood out to us wasn't just the food but the service. Everyone we dealt with was so friendly and welcoming, which made the evening feel like part of the experience rather than simply somewhere to eat.

Golf and games

Of course, the hotel is a fantastic option if you're visiting specifically for golf.

Worsley Park Golf Club has an 18-hole PGA Championship course, measuring 6,611 yards.

During our stay though, we tried something a little different and had a go on the golf simulator indoors, which was so much fun.

You can hire a private room where you can spend time with your family or friends and play Nintendo, making it a great option when you're looking for something to do together that doesn't involve going out.

I actually think this makes the hotel particularly appealing for family trips. You could have a weekend away with friends, bring the kids along and still have plenty of different activities to enjoy.

There's an indoor 20-metre swimming pool, leisure facilities and an on-site spa.

So you could easily spend a whole weekend at the hotel without needing to plan lots of activities elsewhere.

Why we loved it for a family weekend

I think the biggest thing we took away from our stay was how much it felt like a proper little holiday.

We're close enough to Manchester that you can easily visit the city and all the attractions around it, but you're also surrounded by nature and you've got huge open grounds to explore, somewhere lovely to eat, activities for the whole family and comfortable rooms to relax in.
